When we first got here :-))

Well... upon urging I am going to try and do a quick update on my sorely ignored blog. Here goes :-)

My amazing husband went back into the army last July.... and won a prestigious position in the armys elite Old Guard unit! We are now living just outside Washington D.C....and let me tell you,.. it is amazing here! Our family has grown :-).... in a furry way, lol... but he is kind of cute,.. and growing on us, lol. Kody is in the 2nd grade...and Kai is in the 5th... and they both are doing very well in their new school. I love our home, ...and life is so much calmer here for sure. Taking everything day by day and ready for whatever he has in store for us next :-)

Cleanliness next to godliness? Yes, Im sure you have heard that phrase before. In this house we don't necessarily take it that far, but this momma will not have dirty babies. That is a fact. My darling almost 7 year old boy is now at the point in his growth where momma cannot under any circumstance see his lily white behind (...a far cry from the shaking his tail at me while giggling and telling me "you see my buuuuuutt") Even though I did indeed spend many years cleaning it, and sometimes ~gasp~ swatting it. So every night he takes his own bath, and mommy gets to "smell" him,..making sure that he did shampoo and soap himself. Many times sending him back into the water shaking my head. Lately he has become quite shaggy, making my military roots cringe, but we wanted to see how he would like longer hair (as well as look with it). Being around bath time, and in the interest of a timely parental lecture.....(we had also finally resigned ourselves to a haircut, and mommy's knowledge in that area falls short) .I brought out the clippers. After gathering quite the pile of thick red hair, I pulled out a washcloth and scrubbed his scalp with it. You can imagine his surprise at the color change that happened on the poor lamented thing. A stern look, and " he who doesn't wash his hair, doesn't keep his hair". For just a moment he looked ashamed....until little fingers reached up to rub the prickly cue ball now sitting on top of his shoulders....."Oooo Mommy...I love short hairs!!!".....followed by giggling and running around the house making us all feel his head. I would love to believe that he is properly chastened, and will now follow his washing more closely.....but I fear that having to smell check his endeavors is far from over....(for those of you who have a little boy....you know exactly what I mean).....Part of me is thankful that these years have not flown by that quickly.... he does after all, still call me mommy.....and need me for some things :-)

Well, as most of you know....we have lost another baby. So this makes 5 in just 16 months. There are no words to describe any of this,..so I will not try yet. But I know God is with us as we walk this road,...and I will hold each of them some day. I edited this photo in a memorium of sorts. This is one of those things that we women are "supposed" to get over quickly...at least it seems that way at times. I am lucky that I have two beautiful children to ease my aching heart, and a wonderful husband to lean on. I know I am truly blessed.

In the process of dowloading pictures to transfer over here....since it has been quite a while,..I thought I would update a bit. My amazing husband Aaron is leaving in July for training with the army,..he has re enlisted. As sad as I am about losing precious time with someone who has become my very best friend, I am so very proud of him for his choice. I think fear, as a wife is intrensic....and as a military wife that fear becomes a different monster entirely. My pride however is based in the fact that my honorable, courageous husband is led to a life of duty, and still stands firm in the face if any obstacle for what he believes. He is,..he has most of the qualities that I most admire in humanity. As well as enough of the ones that drive me batty, to make life interesting.

We begin a rigorous month in a few days ...medically speaking that is. Prayers are appreciated....

On a beautiful white sandy beach, my husband gave me the best anniversary present, without even knowing it. As is the case with most families today, a lavish dinner and velvet box were not possible to commemorate the ten year marker of the day we said "I do". After a long day in the hot Florida sun, he drove the hour required to make it to some of the most beautiful beaches near us. The adolescent excitement rolled off of me as I spoke seemingly without pause. Our marriage, like so many others, had hung at the edge of divorce for three long years. We were only waiting for the judicial signature on our decree to free us from one another, when a routine meeting changed two broken hearts. My excitement at seeing a day that no one thought would come to pass was apparent in the questions geared towards confirming his happiness. After parking we started the long trek towards crashing waves. Pausing only to take off our sandals and sink tired feet into pristine white sand. A walk along the shoreline prompted a sea shell search for our daughter. As my hands began to fill with every shell that caught my eye, I emptied my drink to transfer my treasure to a bigger resevior. I threw out the desire to find an ever elusive sand dollar. Anyone versed in sea shell searching knows how probable that is. Yet as we walked along, he began handing me small shards of sand dollars. Some marked with fossils, some perfect, some worn almost smooth. For over a mile we walked along, our gazes rarely lifting from the sand and the surf. Him handing every broken piece over, to add to my growing collection, he diligently combed for my treasure. Deciding to sit in the surf and watch the sun set on our beautiful day, I realized that though those pieces varied in every way, they very likely made up a whole. This morning curiosity drove me to assemble the puzzle of a very precious gift. There on my kitchen table sat the culmination of my girlish desire for my sand dollar. In his determination he gave me my hearts desire, maybe not as I first imagined it, but more precious in the time it took to aquire. Reminding me that often our hearts desire is given as we least expect it.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Month

This month is somewhat bittersweet, though not well known this month was set aside for a very special reason. In 1988 president Reagan announced this month National Pregnancy and Infant loss month to honor and remember the 1,000,000 babies lost each year to miscarriage, stillbirth and early Infant death. Unfortunately I have become what I feared most, a survivor....... four times over.

I am very aware and feel completely blessed by the two children I do have, but that does not mean I will not mourn the ones I lost.

I may not have been far along, but as I believe life begins at conception, they were babies to me.

I know that God has his own time, but do not believe I would have gotten pregnant four times if his time was not now.

I believe he has plenty of angels, and did not choose to add my four.

Yes I know I CAN get pregnant, but staying pregnant would be so much better.

I am young and may have years to try,...yet heartache does not skirt you in your youth.

There are four angels to my name. I pray that you are all in Heaven, and that I will indeed see you one day.

We decided to go to the beach for Kai's 9th Birthday,....to our dismay we floated out further than we expected!!!

As the shark was circling, Kody begged Kai to protect him with a sweet kiss that she loved!!

She fought off the scary beast with sooo much courage!! He swam away in terror!!

We found a beautiful Mermaid sunning herself on the beach...it was her 9th birthday too!!

She let us take pictures of her beautiful tail!....we managed to find our way home after our very exciting day! What a great memory for my darling midget's birthday!

I found this great blanket pattern....and had the grand idea to make one for each of my munchkins for their upcoming birthdays....(I cannot believe it.....6 &9!!!!) .....the brilliant idea came after watching Kody...(a very manly boy,.. much to his fathers delight) pet the beginnings of the pink one...and ask to cuddle with it! Unfortunately I am not the only one who likes this particular pattern....I now have 4 more to make, .lol These are folded btw....so are actually quite big when opened....40'' by 40'' I think

I just got back from the hospital and wanted to update...:-) I ended up having a diagnostic laproscopy, hysteroscopy and D&C..... I came out of the OR with all parts intact!!! He actually said that the tubes looked great and complimented Dr. Perez's work!!!! He did find fibroids in my uterus and removed them,....and told me that they may have been interferring with implantation...(so I did in fact loose all 3 babies...instead of just fetal tissue producing hormones)....So,...I am home... very sore (feel like yelling boo boo, like my short people,. lol...) .... but feel sooooo relieved that I didnt loose anything......Oh....and a funny note.....on my way in to the OR I apparantly told my doctor that if he had to take a tube I wanted it back when they were done with it... b/c those darn things weren't cheap, lol. Not really sure what on earth I would have done with it!

I just wanted to add a quick update as to the goings on of late. I am going in for surgery on Monday......a Diagnostic Laproscopy and D&C......following yet another loss. They are going to be searching for a possible chronic ectopic pregnancy,....Im am hoping that I will not loose a tube or ovary,.. but I know that this is a possibility. I will update after we have a better idea of the issue that is causing the losses. I definately hate having to go in for surgery... something about when they put you under is hard for me to swallow....but answers have been long awaited... I am comforted by that.

On another note...the kids are going to be out for the summer on Thursday and we are very excited about all the play time :-)) .....Aaron is in clinicals and doing very well.

I was so blessed to be able to go to California to visit with my grandma, grandpa, mom, big sis, and her boyfriend....I had an amazing time! It has been 12 years since I saw my grandparents, and my grandpa has been very sick. I had posted previously about finding out that we were again expecting. Yet found out on Monday that my beta levels were dropping, and that normally means that a loss is imminent. I was sent home to wait for it to begin. I am still hanging on to a bit of hope...( I am a strong believer in miracles) but know deep down that our journey for another child is not yet over. This is our second loss in 4 months, and it is hitting me pretty hard. Not outwardly,...yet still more than I would like. Im not quite sure where this journey will take us, I only pray for grace if we are again blessed.

This past weekend we were invited to the Renaissance Fair....I have never been to one...and had a total blast. There was a climbing wall, and though we attempted to get both Kailee and Kody to try it....my little man would not go up off the first rung, lol....poor boy. Okay,...so ....the female half of my bunch have a very new and exciting addition to our activities!....As any young girl can empathize with, I had a strong fascination with my little pony and black beauty. My daughter follows in the same vein with an amazing love of all animals......a little animal whisperer it seems, lol. I found an amazing lady who trades me babysitting of her darling son, for lessons,...generally twice a week. I have taken to letting Kailee dip her toes in the water as far as riding is concerned, and she will take over the lessons completely once summer begins. Speaking of toes....poor baby learned today how quick a hoof can be...and is currently icing her big toe :-(...These pictures are from this evening at the stables.....We had a blast,...and now mommy needs a nap!!!

I figured that a landmark post was definately in order. My body is now 100% nicotine free!!!!! I have now gone 74 hours without any form of nicotine, and to be honest the only way I have been able to not break down is keep my countdown going. I definately feel the intense cravings, and am loving how my body is filtering my sorely mistreated lungs...ack. Since I have smoked the better part if my adult life.....well all of it really. I am getting a crash course in how things really taste and smell. It has been a bit odd... thats for sure, lol. So,... wish me luck.....I need to do this!

I wanted to share the newest blanket I've made. I started this when I found out I was pregnant, and honestly couldnt even look at it after the miscarriage. I picked it up again, and here is the finished product!...(I am kinda proud of it,.. it was by far the most complicated pattern I had tried yet). I realy enjoy this as my hobby, and have sold two of them so far :-)) Ive come to appreciate the distraction from idle hands......I am now 30 hours into my ........wait for it........Nicotine detox! I have struggled with being a smoker for a very long time, and never seemed to have the willpower to just kick the habit. Up to 90% of the nicotine should be gone within 72 hours total.......42 left to go!

It has been a little over two months without a post...so here I am playing catch up. We spent the holidays discovering our childrens love for skating :-)....and goof time with mommy and daddy. Daddy did join Kailee on her new dance pad, lol....and "showed" the kids how to "gracefully" fall on skates. All in all it was a great time. Aaron is doing so well in school,...and will graduate at the end of the summer. We are all so proud of him for getting 100% on his final!!!! Kailee and Kody are gearing up for summer with mommy,...and keep asking me when another sibling will be added. Or as Kody puts it..."when is God putting the baby back",..lol.....They are truly my greatest blessings....and biggest challenges :-)) I will try to post pictures soon!!

In light of the upcoming holiday and what it stands for.....I knew I was past due for a post about our last few weeks. I have had some complications already in my pregnancy. Since I had surgery on my tubes...I am a higher risk for ectopic. In the multiple ultrasounds, one found something worrisome. A mass measuring roughly 2 cm was found outside my left ovary. My doctor...who I have seen but one time.....was in quite the rush to tell me to take methotrexate to dissolve my "problem" as he put it. It is a medication to disolve the "products of conception".....he told me it was an ectopic pregnancy.The report stated that it could be an ectopic....OR.....a complex cyst (ie a corpus luteum cyst,...or an ovaian cyst)...he never told me about the last line....and I was shocked at his cavalier attitude...not even willing to wait and prove without a shadow of a doubt. So I have chosen another doctor....and he will be going about the business of determining whether or not the baby is where it should be....There is what looks like a gestational sac inside my uterus as well. We will,...unfortunately have to wait for this answer...but I will not stand in front of the lord on my day of reckoning to answer why I destroyed his miracle....why I trusted everyone but him.....but here are a few things I am thankful for....

So I have honestly been amazed at the interesting things that have been going on lately.... Today I honestly feel like the Lord came aknockin'...let me explain

On my way to drop the kids off at school this morning I felt a knocking by my right front tire....This had started out as a squeak when I went over speed bumps weeks ago....But had transformed into a knocking that rattled through my car. I decided to make my way to Aarons work where I knew he could do his manly car speak and tell me what was going on. Four blocks from work....I prayed "lord please,..I can't take any more right now" I heard a clang that sounded like something flew off...and no more knocking....hmmmm.....My delightful Hubby :-) decided to check anyway....and unbelievably enough,...he finds a tire moments away from blowing...bowed out and cracked with wires sticking out. Minutes after switching it out for my adorable spare...It goes flat. Since I had bought it used not two months prior,..we decided to go back to the place I bought it,...and were helped by a very honest man who switched it out without cost! We were very blessed that this didnt happen with children in the car...Or this weekend on our fishing trip! So something was wrong...and I honestly believe he came knocking....soooo glad I listened!

Prognosis.....

There is some question about the position of the baby...and whether it is progressing....I have now had what they consider a "threatened miscarriage".....so the next few weeks will determine whether the baby is indeed where it should be (not outside the uterus)....and growing well. I have an ultrasound that will be scheduled in 2 to 3 weeks to determine cardiac and structural integrity. Honestly,.. though I am scared....I have faith that this will all be ok....I am including a picture of my ultrasound from Saturday and what they think is the gestational sac...there is a question about it, lol....But it does have the decidual ring and there seems to be blood flow to the sac as well .. So.....just for fun....here is the pic...

Yesterday Aaron and I found out that the surgery was successful and I now carry our very own miracle blessing. Five years of regret and saving for this....I stared in disbelief at the test for quite a while, lol. Now we wait til my doctors apointment to make sure midget#3 is in the right place....any prayers are so welcome and appreciated. I do have faith that everything will be fine,...yet look forward to seeing with my own two eyes.

Though I refuse to get on a political soapbox,..I do have to get this out...

Though I am quite happy that yesterday was a historic day....It was turned into something it never should have been about.

Lets take the money from people who sweated and went to college to earned that money and status....and pass it around to those who have not yet overcome those obstacles.....

Lets bring our soldiers home and welcome the backlash on our shores....

Lets support those that refuse to protect our smallest citizens while we bemoan abortion and how it is now used as birth control.......

While we're at it,....lets stop requiring more experience from our plumber than we do our commander in chief...

Lets pray he listens to his advisors as he leads men and women even though he himself has never been in their dusty boots......

Me,....I will spend the next few years praying that charisma is not the only thing brought to the presidential reigns......That I am wrong in my reticence towards this man....It is in no way about race to me....I firmly exercise my right to weigh a person by action and deed.. and am a bit offended by how little that was spoken about....but that can be my own sensitivity.....I am aware as I type this....that by this not being the "popular" opinion....I may have to prepare myself, lol....I am by no means trying to be combatative...yet am exercising my american borne right to be outspoken, lol

Gods hands

I have been reminded in many small ways recently that there are many things that you just have to let go of. To leave in Gods hands and know that he will take care of it. I wanted to share todays lesson because it really taught me more in just a few hours than all of the small hints lately. I left the house at 1130, to pick the short people up from school (a half day)....stop at the mailbox, and when I get back in my car, it wont start. Aaron comes home early from work and spends 4 hours trying to figure out what is wrong...(my engine is a bit smashed together, being a newer model vehicle) reminding me the whole time how much he hates working on my car, even though I like it a bit..(kody calls it my race car...its a bit fast, lol) Now after going through 4 likely culprits he can find no reason for the problem. When he gets home he tells me it may be the computer which runs a few hundred dollars, and if it necessitates a mechanic it may run $1000 or higher. Finally the waterworks start....its been a rough month, what with the break in and sickness running through the family....added to a pretty kidney infection......I was just done, I couldnt think of the fact that we would have to spend that much money on a car that we are trading in next month (yay! for no more car payment, lol) When he goes upstairs to get ready for school, the analytical side of my personality kicks in and I decide to search the internet for an answer. I stumble on a feature called the Pass Lock, a security feature that will shut down the vehicle if anyone tries to steal it.......The solution was to turn the car to on for 10 minutes...then restart it. His hands are wide open, his back far stronger than mine, there is nothing that I could do alone better than he. So my lesson for today is this....

Such a sweetie,...had to share a picture of my surprise from Aaron,... this was followed by dinner at The Melting Pot,..and SHOES!!! lol......(admitted shoe addict)

This post is a bit late, lol.....but better than never and all. On October 15th, 1999....9 years ago, I met and fell in love with my dear husband. In a whirlwind of activity and emotion we met and married three weeks later, followed quickly by Kailee and Kody. The years have flown by when we weren't looking, lol. Yet here we find ourselves more in love than the day we met, and blessed far more than words could begin to explain. I begin my mornings with the rush to school, packing lunch, kisses and hugs all around. Afternoons full of housework and cooking for my family. Evenings of homework, laughter and giggles. The day ends with my best friend, who gives the very best hugs :-) I am so blessed to have another day just like it when I wake.

So,....We had a fun girls night with kailee and a friend....Facials...pedicures....and the nintendo wii. I thought I would include some video of them horsing around, as well as the one they filmed of the makeover they gave me,....yes I truly did let two small girls loose on my face with makeup...ack!!! But I have to admit, they did a great job!!

Well,...I decided to try and make a more decorative crust for the mixed berry pie that I made tonight. The filling is strawberry, raspberry, and blackberry,....and handy dandy cookie cutter's made the rest relatively easy,....crusted with sugar and topped with vanilla bean icecream,...yummmmmm

The other night, Aaron and I are downstairs,...and here a thump (bedrooms are upstairs),...so we go rushing up the stairs,...and what do we find,....Kody dearest had plopped on the floor, and not woken, lol....such a cutie.

Our Neighbors

As most of you know, Aaron and I moved closer to his school and work recently. We found a 3 bedroom townhome apartment that sits by a very nice little lake. We have also now begun to met our many new neighbors......they tend to swarm the door when we come outside. But this momma and babies have captured our hearts. Kailee in particular...I wouldnt be surprised if she one day becomes a Vet, lol. The change of scenery is actually much better than any of us could have anticipated. A pool but a stones throw away, the childrens school is less than a mile away, and a magnet school no less. They actually wear uniforms, and are doing very well. We have 2 1/2 baths, which means no more froggy deco for mommy,...I get the more grown up bathroom,...yay!! All in all, besides the problems associated with living so near other people,..life is good!! Oh and Aaron and I hit 9 years next month,..wow....lol....he keeps saying that nine is the paper anniversary,....someone help me find out which one it is!!! Peas and Carrots???!!!

Reflection

And I know..."Bad Mama" But this is Kody on "his" couch in his room,....so cute but he naps like this often :-)

Ive had alot of time for reflection lately, as my daughter is now the age I was when my memories became more concrete I would say. So now I look closely at my children far more often, making comparisons to my own childhood, and theirs from what seems like moments ago. My son and his rocking stage when he was crawling, the moment he was born and the terror afterwards when he proved to be so sick. My daughter born to a very young mother who had to feel her way through. I can still feel her close to my heart. lying on my chest, that is the way we slept many nights when Aaron was in Korea. I wonder day to day what will imprint on them, will they learn what they need in the most important of moments? I know how blessed I am in the task and joy of raising them. I pray one day they feel the same joy that they bring into our lives.

Getting ready......

Well, today we celebrated my darling daughters' 8th birthday. A very big birthday indeed,...for though I see her grow each day,...she has hit the... yes you guessed it.....Barbie Stage!!!! Yay! She is well equipped with wedding barbie, ken,..a best friend and two children, lol. Many changes of clothes as well :-), of course. Now my beautiful daughter (after my own heart) requested a brownie cake with hot fudge on top (smart girl) and who am I to stand in her way? Though my hips will pay the price, I agreed, and we all enjoyed it very much, lol. Now the pics are of Kai,...as daddy tells her to blow out the candles,...the yells "wait" not now... then says ok,.. now... lol....You can see her expression quite well, poor baby. I will try to post pics later as I-I mean ...she.... plays with her new toys, lol.

Soooo much fun!

My baby boy turn five today,....on the 5th,..he he. Now Daddy was in charge of presents,...which according to menfolk,....excludes wrapping paper, lol....But he did a great job and the boys played for quite a while with Aaron's...I mean Kody's new toys. I experimented with birthday cakes this year,.. and made fondant for the icing,...It has the consistency of playdough,..and is the Marshmallow recipe, so actually tastes good,...so yay. I did the Deco as a fishbowl, including seaweed and 5 fishies,..lol. One for each year. Now I know that this will improve with time, so bear with me, lol. I am including pics from the fourth of july, we introduced the children to silly string. They were woefully lacking apparently.......Way too long without the wonders of the aerosol string fight...lol.. Enjoy!

Hello yall,...we're back and everything went great! I am including some pictures of Aaron driving...:-) and some of the border crossing and such. We arrived in Mexico on Friday the 20th at 1130. My surgery was pushed up to 1300.....though the Tubal Ligation had created some scar tissue,.. they were able to reconnect 5-6 cm on both sides. Which is a great length! Soit was a success and we are very pleased. Though Kody did ask me where they put the baby....which caused a fit of laughter,.. not a good idea with an abdominal incision, lol.

Okay,..we have officially broke the news!!! Today Aaron and I are leaving to get a tubal reversal!!! We should be back by Sunday, and all prayers are appreciated.... this is something we have been preparing for for a few years, and this is truly an answer to prayer.....so yayayayayayay!! I'll post pics next week depending on how mobile I am :-).

Slippers!

As a child my mother used to make these awesome chrochet slippers,.. I can still remember sliding around the kitchen as if I had wheels on my feet. I have tackled the quilting, scrapbooking, and even soap making for kai's dry skin, lol. But the slippers seemed to elude me until I bought Chrocheting for dummies,... yes, they have that title. While I was out for my knee surgery, my mother in law helped me get the basics with a beautiful star patterned washcloth. Now I have over 30 of them, lol... and decided to move on. I am currently working on a beautiful arghan for my hubby, It is an actual recplica of the American flag,... very cool, Hopefully he will get it for our 9th anniversary (fingers crossed,... its a bit complicated). In between we have the slippers and I am having so much fun with it....I have to say thanks ma!!! I am including a pic of the Mother-Daughter pair I've made,....Quickly I might add, yay!!! Oh Btw,... to all of the grannies out there....Love you to bits,....and to a soon to be new one,....I will get soooo many miles out of this one,....Love you :-)
